Literacy Volunteers of Gloucester Helps All Adults

The Literacy Volunteers of Gloucester (LVG) has been serving the Gloucester community since 1982. By 1992, Frances Burruss had established a tutorial program for Gloucester County Jail inmates and was educating over 15 inmates.

Twenty-three years later, LVG continues to provide educational services to the Gloucester County inmates. Whether it is:
  • Improve their basic literacy skills
  • Or, attain their GED...LVG is there.

Sometimes, inmates are transferred to other regional jail facilities, and LVG works to ensure the learner can continue with their educational plan.

LVG's goal, "to equip adults for tomorrow" is for all the adults in Gloucester and surrounding areas, no matter who or where they are.
