What is the GED?

The GED, revised as of January 2014,  is a series of four tests designed to provide general educational competence equivalent to the minimum required for a graduating high school senior. The GED tests make it possible for qualified individuals to earn a high school credential, thus providing opportunities to:
  • Pursue higher education
  • Obtain jobs or job promotions and/or
  • Achieve personal goals

The Tests of General Educational Development (GED) have been designed to measure major academic skills and knowledge in the following subject areas:
  • Language Arts

Upon earning a GED, your GED credential certifies that you have attained subject matter knowledge and skills associated with high school completion. For complete information on the GED go to www.myGED.com.
